COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION FOR PREHOSPITAL CONTINUING EDUCATION
ABOUT CAPCE
Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) is a recognized leader in EMS continuing education, driving the evolution of the field by setting high standards for learning and professional development. CAPCE’s commitment to innovative learning solutions ensures EMS providers are well-prepared to face the challenges of their careers.

Since its founding in 1992, under the visionary leadership of Janet Head, CAPCE has been dedicated to improving the quality of EMS continuing education (CE). Janet saw the need for more consistent and higher-quality CE and garnered support from key EMS organizations like the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE), National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), and the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP). Together, these organizations created an accreditation service to ensure EMS professionals have access to CE programs that meet rigorous standards.

CAPCE’s standards require active medical direction, valid post-tests, robust educational design, and proper student record-keeping, among other essential criteria. These guidelines ensure that every EMS professional receives valuable, high-quality continuing education that advances their skills and knowledge.

At WEMSA 2025, CAPCE-accredited courses allow attendees to earn credits through carefully curated, high-quality continuing education. As a result, all attendees are required to be properly scanned into EACH class they attend and complete the required post survey for EACH class in order to receive their certificate.
