Thomas Engel is a dual-board certified emergency medicine and emergency medical services (EMS) physician. He holds a Masters in Public Health and has also been a Physician in the US Army National Guard for the past 15 years. Clinically, Thomas Engel practices Emergency Medicine at a Level 1 Trauma Center in South East Wisconsin where he educates all levels of medical learners. His EMS work includes acting as the Deputy Chief Medical Director for Milwaukee County EMS through the Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management and the Medical Director for the New Berlin Fire Department and Fox Point Police Department. His clinical interest include critical care education, operational EMS Medicine, emergency management, and physician prehospital response. Throughout his prehospital work, he incorporates his Public Health knowledge to find ways to expand and research prehospital systems to improve population outcomes. He currently acts as the Brigade Surgeon for the National Guard Security Forces Assistance Brigades and has previous deployments to Afghanistan and Eastern Europe. The balance of military and civilian EMS experience allows Thomas Engel to use lessons learned and best practice from each entity advance prehospital medicine.
